Was your great uncle a hunter? How cool would that be to have a deer attend your wake. I might put that in my will....imagine..."Cue the deer" and release it to run though the cemetery right past the 61 vette. Right out of "Funny Farm" with Chevy Chase in Redbud, VT.

We watched one run through our yard and several one day in Lake Zurich at Route 12 and Cuba Road. The deer came out of the community behind us, through our yard, down through the garden center, crossed Rt 12, and tried to jump the privacy fence into the community there.

Couple of attempts it couldn't make it, ran back and forth along the highway a bit, finally decided to try the fence again and got hung up with its front legs.

It kicked and thrashed until it knocked the fence down and disappeared.

I bet the guy that lived there wondered what happened. Bet his kids got blamed.

had a deer in one of our pastures run into a 243 cal projectile. he's RIP in the cooler as i type. happy thanksgiving to all who contribute to this forum. mike

So who else is having venison for Thanksgiving? Tenderloins over charcoal will be served compliments of an arrow acquired acquisition. Just doing my part to make the roads safer for vintage corvettes.

felling a deer with an arrow quite an accomplishment, beyond my hunting skills. my favorite weapon, when hunting whistle pigs(aka ground hogs) is the left front tire on my old S-10 pickup. mikie

Thought I was the only one that dined ala ground hog. Brown'n bag with fine chopped veggies along with some mushrooms and packaged spices for a chicken roast, add a dash of Wild turkey 101 and a glop of honey. 350 deg for an hour or for the duration of an oil change, tire rotation and lube on a solid axle. Parts is parts.
