suggestions for vacuum actuator valves / C3

I'm having a problem with some vacuum actuator valves for the headlamp doors and also the wiper door. They are not allowing the system to hold a vacuum after the car is shut off. The rest of the system is completely tight. I thought I had a few old valves that were inop., but I have found a few new NOS valves and they are exibiting the same problem. Now my thinking is that the rubber plunger seal must be dry from age and is not sealing against the inner wall of the valve. I'm thinking of soaking the bottom of the valves in some oil to possibly bring the seal back some life (if possible). Any suggestions on what type of oil should be used, something that will now swell the rubber too much. Possibly a mineral oil or vegetable oil without a petroleum base, should that be enough to soak into the seals and give them back some life? Any other suggestions? Thanks.

You might try silicone grease. It is thick and will not run off or damage the tubber. I do not think that anything will work longterm

The new replacements not GM I have bought do not leak but they are a little different than original but would pass a PV. I could see no way to repair them and they are what I found leaking on all my restorations. I read on Corvette Forum that some one their can fix them. You could try a post their.
