    C2 Deck Lid ?

Two questions regarding the deck lid hardware?

    1. Can the latch/lock asm (3797331) be adjusted inboard/outboard? One of mine does not latch smoothly.

    2. Any suggestions for a release wire that doesn't want to return completely after opening the deck lid? I have to reach in a push it mannually at the control asm. so that when I close the deck lid, it will latch.

    Thanks

The reason your cable does not slide back in your casing is that is is either bent or dirty. I take the cables out of the casings and straighten them on a steel surface by tapping them with a hammer until straight. Then I clean them well, lubricate them with white lithium and reinstll them. If the car is not a perfect show car, I also take the casings out and degreas and clean them so the cable slides nicely in them. his procedure shoul alow the springs to do their job by returning the cable in the casing.

      Ken,

Thanks for the suggestion and I'll give it a try. It doesn't look like rocket science, but it'll be my luck this project will take all weekend.

        Hi Ken,
I thought the method of pushing the cable end back before closing the lid was a stock feature. Been dong since 1967 - guess its about time to fix, thanks for the info.

I pushed min in from 1975 to 1985 when I finally figured it out and fixed it. I met a guy recently with a 67 conv that had been driving for years with one side of his deck lid latched and the other just flopping around. I reached back and pushed the cable in - he was astounded!
