I was looking in the archives and see where a 5455509 M/C with the "DC" for a 67 C-2 had a date stamped in the brake line flange. I was later looking on ebay at 4593150764 which was the same as above with the date stamp of "1187". I looked at mine for the first time and it was "1187." Is this a coincidence or were they "batch" stamped?

Re: 509 M/C

Both master cylinders were assembled on the 187th day of 1971. They may have been either PRODUCTION or SERVICE master cylinders since the '509' DC master cylinder was still being used in PRODUCTION at that time.
It may well be that these master cylinders were batch-produced and were not being produced every single day of the work week. However, this is, by no means, the only date found on these master cylinders. If that were the case, then all the cars produced before the 187th day of 1971 wouldn't have had one. Many did, though, from 1967.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
