    C2 Kick Panel 6 or 7 screws

Have some questions relative to the TIM v AIM v original kick panels.

TIM states panel is held by 3 screws on metal trim while forward edge & bottom is held by 3 chrome Phillip's screws through chrome eyelets.

AIM shows panel held by same 3 screws on metal trim (#4751359). However AIM pg D50 calls for three screws (#9417987) AND another 4751359 in the forward middle hole.

Thus AIM (pg44 3rd ED) calls for an additional hole #7 in the kick panel, lower left and the use of another screw.

A March 1964 panel only has 6 screw holes as per the TIM(missing lower left) BUT the kick panel backing has the 7th hole in it (not in carpet).

The repro's I've seen have the 7 holes! Comments Please!

The AIM books typically do NOT call out the quantity of parts used and the pictorials are 'approximate' intended only for GM internal communication (design to production). Looking at my '65 copy of the AIM, specifically UPC 1, Sheet D2. I see no specific quantities of 4751359 and 9417987 called out. The count would have been defined in another document, the parts list...

However, the lower LH side of this drawing gives drill locations on the kick panel for the mounting screw holes. It's pretty clear there are only six holes defined which agrees with the info in the TIM, so I don't see the disconnect issue.

      Alan

63 and early 64 c2's had 4 screw kick panels. Then sometime in mid 64 production the panel was changed to six whih continued through 67. (67 had a diffrent kick panel but still used 6 screws) I do not know when the change occured in 64 but I have never seen a seventh hole. I have an early 64 which incorrectly has the 6 hole kick panels. Today I removed the panel to do some carpet work and found 10 holes. It's on my things to do list to replace the kick panels with the correct ones. However, The ones I have are in good shape and only a judge would know the diffrence.

Jack, your comment about the AIM being approximate was what I've suspected. The 64 AIM does show the location of each type screw which must have been deleted by 65. It's the AIM that shows 7 holes and some repro stuff.

The TIM appears to be the answer when conflicts exist.

I have the 6 hole kick panel on a March 1964 car, so the 4 hole was gone before that.
        Thanks

Bill. I think you're referring to the sill plates, not the kick panels. Chuck

Where does anyone suggest getting the correct screws for the kick panels. I've ordered sets for my '66 from LI and Paragon. I think they look the same but when flight judged I am told I have the wrong screws. Suggestions please..Thank you

DUHH!! I was thinking sill plate. My early 64 kick panel has 7 screws.
