hi all
ok, I needed to get my intake cleaned up from 40 years of dirt, grime, and fuel stains. I tried cleaning it various ways by hand with no luck so I ended up glass bead blasting it today. I did it at the lowest possible pressure that would achieve the results and it came out looking great.
Now the question is what to do with it.
Do I understand correctly that on the SHP motors with the aluminum manifolds that they only had silver paint on the sides by the hold down bolts from overspray or was the entire manifold painted silver?
I'm not concerned about NCRS judging and losing points for correctness, but I'd like it to keep it's fresh, clean appearance as long as possible.
Is my best bet to paint it with something like Alumi-blast or just keep it as it is now as the bare raw aluminum? I know if I tried to clearcoat it the clearcoat will turn yellow from the heat so that's not a good option.
What's my best move?
