    C2 1966 V74 flasher

I'm hoping that someone with a factory installed V74 flasher unit can help me out. I'm adding that option to my car and would like to do it right. The item in question is the location of the mounting hole. According to the assembly manual, the mounting hole for the flasher should be 2 inches above the center of the parking brake shaft hole below it. However, when I mark this location it seems awful low. In fact it looks like the flasher may even interfere with the supports that are on the back side of the bracket. ( I haven't actually tried to "dry fit" the flasher yet though to see if that is the case) It just looks too low. Can anyone with this option on their car please measure the distance from the center of the parking brake handle shaft hole to the mounting hole for the flasher. I reallize the numbers will be approximate. The more measurements posted the better because I am sure that not all installations were done by the factory so I'd like to get a majority concensus. Thanks to all for any assistance.

Bob, I just measured mine (it is an original option on my car) and it is two inches center line to center line of each hole

Thanks for the quick response Pete. I know having to respond to these "measurement" type of questions can be a hassle. Thanks for taking the time.

        Bob,

I'm interested in any responses to your posts because I'm doing the same thing. I haven't got to the point of drilling the hole, but assumed the 2" measurement in the assembly manual would work so I'll wait and see what others say regarding the location of it. There's a good picture of the flasher in Noland Adams' book, p373. It does look like more than 2" from the parking brake hole.

          Bob,

Let me know how you make out drilling the hole. I see what you mean about the bracing behind the bracket. It looks like installed the correct side up, it will just miss them.

Unless I get any contrary measurements, it sounds like 2 inches is correct based on Pete's measurements. I'll let this run for a bit and then let you know how the drilling and fitting went. Thanks.
