Please take a look at this 7380 unit on eBay and give me your comments about the data plate lettering fonts, unit serial number, color of the solenoid wires, plating of fuel meter tubing fittings, foil inspection tag, etc.:
This looks like a VERY nice FI unit. Probably among the best of the NOS units that I've seen in decades.
The only two things missing that I noticeds would be the original foil part # tag and the small cardboard plug that would have been in the fuel inlet fitting for shipping. The foil tag would have been gold for a service unit instead of the usual silver for prod.
The green goonk is very common on many of the plated fittings and parts. I don't know exactly what kind of corrosion it is but it seems to be on many NOS units. I'll send you some pic's of other NOS units that have the exact same green corrosion. Obviously, this green was not on these parts when the units were new.
Also, the unit in my pic's will show black solenoid wires instead of the red wires on the one in the ebay listing. I still think these solenoids may have come either way during the latter part of the 65 run as I've seen many of each color on very original cars and also many NOS solenoids.
On the unit number, wouldn't that indicate a late point of 65 production? If the 64 run had aprox 1400 units and 65 had 771, the total FI prod for both years would be 2100. Subtract the 375R for early 64 and I suppose that would come out near the 2000 mark, which gives a tag number of roughly 3000 if the numbering system started at 1000.
