How much mechanical depth do you have Jose?

It will be changed by a mecanician especialist in classic cars,I think he have enough mecanical depth to change a engine, but i want to know if all the old pieces will be in this crate engine and if we have to make a lot of modifications in the new engine.

        Jose-----

The GM #12499529 engine assembly can be readily used in a 1979 Corvette and would represent an excellent and economical replacement engine. Keep in mind, though, that the 12499529 is not a COMPLETE engine assembly that's ready to "drop in" and run-----there are many parts that have to be added and/or transferred from the replaced engine. Included are the intake manifold/carburetor, distributor, harmonic balancer, waterpump, exhaust manifolds, starter, clutch/bellhousing (if equipped with manual transmission), alternator, fuel pump, all emissions control equipment, and other bracketry.

Also, keep in mind that from a "future value" sort of perspective, you'd be better off rebuilding and retaining the original engine, assuming that you have it and it's rebuildable. At the very least, if you go with the replacement engine, you should save and store the original engine.

Well, it's hard to say what parts that you'll need for a rebuild because it depends on the condition of the engine when it goes into rebuild. However, I'll cover it thusly:

            1) parts you'll need regardless:

            ---cam bearings
            ---main bearings
            ---rod bearings
            ---piston rings
---complete engine gasket set(head, intake, oil pan, v.c., and timing cover gaskets)
---timing set (chain and both sprockets)
            ---valve seals
            ---timing cover oil seal
            ---rear main seal

            2) parts you'll probably need:

            ---camshaft
            ---lifters
            ---pistons

            3) parts that I recommend that you replace even if they seem ok:

            ---valve springs
            ---valve locks ("keepers")
            ---oil pump and screen

            4) parts you can very likely have reconditioned and reuse

            ---cylinder block
            ---connecting rods
---cylinder heads (replace valves as necessary)
            ---crankshaft
            ---distributor

            5) parts that you can clean up and reuse:

            ---oil pan
            ---intake manifold
            ---exhaust manifolds
---push rods (inspect for wear; replace as necessary)
---rocker arms (inspect for wear; replace as necessary)
            ---front timing cover
            ---valve covers
---harmonic balancer (install repair sleeve if necessary)

If your talking about what old "transfer" components you should be concerned with in the swap out, I'd look hard at replacing and/or re-building the following.

              Water pump
              Alternator
Clutch and pressure plate (if a standard car)
Have the flywheel inspected and machined if required (if a standard car)
              Motor mounts
              Tranny mount
              Radiator hoses and clamps
              Heater hoses and clamps
              All belts
Power steering hoses (if so equiped)
Have radiator professionally flushed and pressure checked.
At the same time inspect the radiator rubber mounts, seals and gaskets
              Thermostat

              Fluff Stuff would be,
              Carbeurator re-build
              Distributor inspection and/or re-build
              Smog system inspected and/or re-built
              All vacuum system hoses replaced

If your still talking existing power plant re-build, then Joe nailed it down for you.
