    C2 67 radio am/fm

My am/fm radio plays several stations on FM. It does not do as well on AM . I have seen this before. I had judging points deducted for this. Have you other C2 owners experienced this? Regards, Don

Try t******* the antenna. There should be an adjustment there somewere. Set it to a weak station in the upper dial and adjust for best reception.

        Re: C2 67 radio am/fm

When I first got my 67, the radio could pick up two or three stations on FM and none on AM. I got a deduction during flight judging for having no AM.

I figured that the radio needed work, but it was simpler than that. Turns out the cable connection at the antenna was disconnected. Plugged it in and now I get terrific reception on both AM and FM.

By the way, I have read other posts on this board that said the antenna cable sometimes deteriorates mid way and becomes an open circuit. The suggested quick check is to buy or borrow a cheap antenna and plug it directly into the radio. If your antenna cable or connections are the problem, that will confirm it.

i restore radios and the posts are correct. without an antenna fm will sorta work but nothing on am. i have found in several 67 with 4 speeds the clutch pedal cuts the wire. when you push the clutch clear to the floor, the antenna cable is routed directly under it where it contacts the carpet. after many years of this the center wire breaks. its a single fine strand of copper wire floating in a hollow nylon insulation. you can check the wire with an ohm meter. measure between the antenna mast and the center of the radio antenna plug. it should look like a short. if its open stick a small screwdriver into the radio jack and attach a clip lead to it. if the radio plays am you know you need a new antenna cable. good luck, dick
