My original '63 GM seat covers (made by Dupont) lasted only 12 years - and they were a mess, with major problems on the tops and the bottoms of both seats.
In 1975, I installed a set of Al Knoch's seat covers. And now 30 years later, they still look great. THANK YOU, Al, for a true quality product that lasts!
Recently, I discovered a small seam split starting on the back of the driver's seat. The local upholstery shop did an invisible fix, and we're back on the road. During the time they had the back, I switched the passenger seat over to the driver's side so that I could continue to drive the car, and it occurred to me that this might be a smart thing to do every couple of years to balance seat wear. Sort of like rotating your tires.
