The tip of the iceberg
There's a lot of other neat old car parts hidden away by packrats who have one foot in the grave. Now that these guys are starting to drop, we're going to see more and more of this stuff come on the market.
There's a local geezer with a bunch of old starters and alternators that he's hoarded for decades. Why? Who the hell knows for sure, but he probably thinks of it as an "investment". It's his money, but I think his old lady is in for a shock when she goes to unload them after his death. They may work out to be as good an investment as the GM stock I bought at $42.- Top

Re: The tip of the iceberg
Was just there, this find is historic. If you like original cars and parts bring your cameras.People are coming from all over the world to see this collection. Many magazine and newspaper people are there as I write this. Many people new this guy had stuff stashed, but had no idea what and how much. He actually parked the semi trailers end to end and welded the doos shut. I woke up this morning and thought it was a dream. BUT this is the real deal. The guy that owns the parts business is one lucky man. After the guy died his wife calls this guy up and sells him the whole collection,EVERYTHING..The parts guy new enough about this guy and his cars to jump at this rare and very valuable collection.- Top

Re: The tip of the iceberg
Anyone know how they intend to sell these items off? I see on the website that they will not sell individual pieces, but does that mean that they want one price for the whole deal. Doesn't make much sense to me. Might be interested in certain items if they are available separately. Duh, who wouldn't be!

This reminds me ...........
of the guy that was a regular a Cypress Gardens for years who always had a lot of rare NOS parts. He was a nice guy that everyone knew at the time. Unexpectedly, he died at a fairly early age and the story goes that his widow put a couple of his favorite NOS Corvette items in his coffin. Long time members may remember. I think the story was printed in VV or another publication at the time.- Top

Re: 21 trailers of old cars & parts found in Wisco
A collector-car dealer near me who knew of this stash and its impending sale about three months ago indicated that the sale price was $500,000---asking price for the whole lot at this point is $1,500,000. That's a good profit margin if realized!- Top

Mike
I talked to the owner yesterday and he seemed quite genuine...he said the 2 57's were not part of the sale at this time..as they were promised to the sons in the deal for the collection.
