Should the master cylinder cap on a 1966 NO power brake car be painted black? My cap looks to be plated in copper. Should it be semi-gloss (Krylon 1613) or gloss black? What is the correct wording press into the cap? Thanks Ken

Re: '66 Master Cylinder cap (Cover)
Ken,
I could be wrong (and I am often), but I'm fairly certain that the copper color/plating is also acceptable for a 66 - check the archives. The cap should read, "Use only SAE 70 R3 Brake Fluid".

Re: '66 Master Cylinder cap (Cover)
I don't have my 66 JG with me but, as the past owner of a 66, my memory is that either cad plated or black is acceptable. My caveat is that the CRS disease seems to be creeping in. Anyone have their 66 TIM & JG?

Re: '66 Master Cylinder cap (Cover)
Ken,
The JG does indeed state that the 66 non power brake master cyl cover can be either plated or painted. All originally installed cyl's on new 66's were painted semi gloss black, along with the rest of the cyl.- Top
