Had my last vette for 30years, just purchased my dream driver, a 67 427 Roadster. I desparately need help identifying and documenting what this car is supposed to be. It just had a very nice but not show winning frame off restoration. The car is completely lacking identification. It was registered 15 years ago in Maine as a re-registered stolen vehicle and the privacy policies of Maine do not allow me to contact previous owners. During the frame off ..NO serial numbers were found, none. No vin tag, no frame numbers, nothing except 1/2 of the tank sticker. It appears the tank sticker is the original one. On that sticker is the dealer number which reads 160 or maybe 0160, the zone number, 43 and the order number 1079 or maybe 11079. What can be read is Marina blue, 8 turbo jet, tor ign, act axle 355r cl ratio tran, aukxiliary hardtop( the car has hardtop only deck lid) side exhaust. The tach is 6500 rpm( sure looks like the tach has never been out of the car.), the engine before this years rebuild was standard bore with non original hp pistons. Non original intake and heads. All the good stuff is gone. It has the plug on the oil filter boss and hi perf k pass ,3904351..oil pan flange is J-12-6.
Rear is wrong ratio, trans is not original, nor is hood. Windshield is correct date code for a 67.
Help, help , help. is there anyway to trace the dealership and/order number to trace the ownership history of find out what the care was ordered with. I can make good guess at some of the original options but not even positive which hp 427 it was. Seems like solid lifter ,high performance, but I cant be sure. Can anyone out there help me..????
thanks, brad
