    '67 upper control arm nuts

Regarding the nuts which hold the upper a-arm shaft to the frame, I thought I had the correct ones, but the top flite cars I looked at had shorter ones. The ones I've got now are 9/16" long, while the others were around 3/8 or 5/16" and they looked like lock nuts. Can anyone advise which are correct?

    Thanks, Brandon Korman

Someone else will have to verify the originality on this Brandon, but I'll tell you what I've got on mine. Those I have are 3/8" thick and have a slightly beveled (rounded off) edge. TBarr #24014

      Brandon-----

The original nuts used for the application which you describe were GM #9422300. These were a PREVAILING TORQUE type(lock)nut. They were of 7/16-20 thread size and were 3/8" thick with a somewhat rounded surface on the non-bearing end. They were manufactured of GM 301M material(equivalent to SAE grade 8) and were cadmium or zinc finished. These nuts were still available from GM until fairly recently when they were discontinued and replaced by GM #9442938, which are still available. I do not know how the later part compares to the former with respect to configuration; they may be identical.

        Thanks Tom and Joe,

Guess this is another case of getting the wrong parts from Corvette Central....

I have a 65 a the nuts are the longer 9/16 ones. Are they correct for a 65? Or should they be the same? Thanks Mike
