    69 exhaust question

Hello, I am looking to put the correct 2 inch exhaust in my 69 BB 4 speed car. My question is are the pipes round or squished square like N11 exhausts. Also would the rear pipes and mufflers for a small block car be the same as a big block and do the mufflers have anything stamped on them other than the W ? Thanks in advance.

With standard exhaust the rear pipes and mufflers are the same as the big blocks. The 2" pipes should be round

      Dick and Steve-----

I believe that the rear pipes for all 1969 applications were the same and were of somewhat "flattened" configuration. I'm 100% certain that the original rear pipes on my 1969 were of that configuration.

Joe, would you have any idea where I can find a set of pipes and mufflers that would be correct for a 69BB 4 speed car? Thanks

            Steve-----

Technically, there are no SERVICE pipes and mufflers that are correct for your application. PRODUCTION rear pipes were assemblies that were welded at the muffler. These were never available in SERVICE, though. For SERVICE, the rear pipes were shorter in order to work with the SERVICE mufflers which had extensions and a bell joint. The latter would be the "most correct" that you'd be able to obtain. It is possible to modify the SERVICE pipes and mufflers so that they appear close to the original configuration, though.

In any event, these are quite difficult to find. The only set that I know of is not for sale.
