Here's how the original Cheetah looked under the (paper-thin) hood.

Also a good trivia quiz subject; was the only front-engine rear-drive car (that I know of) that was built without a prop shaft - the wheelbase was so short and the engine was set so far back that the trans output yoke was connected directly to the pinion flange. Believe I recall Guldstrand speaking one night...
...said, "I never drove one of those things in competition because I really didn't want to commit suicide that badly."
But hey, maybe I misunderstood what he said...

Re: fiberglass dude in phoenix
Mike,
I have had some minor dealings with Robert Auxier over the years.
Like a lot of us, he is sometimes a little hard to figure out and deal with but nothing has suggested he is dishonest.
He knows Bill Thomas, has a lot of Cheetah information and documentation and has tracked down most of the surviving Cheetahs.
I would love to see a Cheetah body with a Z06 setup. There would have to be some modification someplace because of the driver/rear wheel placement of the Cheetah body.

John,
That photo appears to be Fred Yeakle's Cheetah as it raced in Lugna Seca in 2002.
I believe most of the original Cheetahs were equiped with a dual air-meter Rochester. 375 or 380 units with two airmeters on top and fuel meter modifications.
