    69 rim date code

I'm looking at buying a rim and the code on it is as follows

    K18 12 (valve stem) AZ

I read it as a Dec/68 manufacture date but find it odd that there is nothing stating the day of the month as per the TIM&JG. Any thoughts on this one? Thanks.

    Re: 69 rim date code

Sometimes the date code is missing a digit or 2 - may have been over the valve stem hole or been missed. The date code may also be 1978, there was an article in the Restorer about date codes maybe a year or 2 ago that explains what else to look for.

You should find a number between the valve stem and the AZ this will be the day of the month it is sometimes very light. As for 68 or 78 as I recall 68 may have a round dot of like weld on the outer edge of the front side but I am not sure.
