Stinger Paint

I will be painting my 67 within a couple of weeks. Marina Blue with a white stinger hood. Does anyone have any tips on painting the stinger?

I think there is a stensil available. If not the measurements are in the assembly manual. When painting just cover it good don`t pile it up or the tape lines will be heavy. Rub or buff the edges to remove the rough edges.

Hope you got my message, contact ecklers at 1-800-327-4868 or chicago corvette supplies at 1-800-872-2446. Cost about $85.00. I just bought one at ecklers. I'm presently restoring my 67 coupe(427/435-matching). Due to the long period of time being spent on stripping,sanding,gel-coat,epxoy coat etc. Not counting having the doors off. I didn't really want to see my hood done by memory,chance or even pictures. But I do have pictures of several B/B hoods from diffent views. Up close, top/sides and nose.The hood makes the car. I have the dimensions for the stinger hood but wondering if the stencil is better. I talked to one guy and he said no but one man's opinion.

Recently bought a stencil ( $50 ) which would not adhere properly and left a fuzzy paper edge when separated along the perforated cuts. The job is on hold but the painter said he would rather use fine line tape to mark out the stinger than risk having paint bleed under the stencil.

I've heard that before about the stencils, too....

Also saw something at the regional judging meet in FL, about a "dollar and a dime test". Something to do with tip of the stinger paint being slightly more than the width of a dollar bill away from the edge of the surround. Anyone else know what I'm talking about?
