    What is a secure sight

I had a friend ask if he gave out a credit card number buying a part from a Corvette dealer can he feel safe doing that.
Well! when you go to a web page it will have the (http) before the address in any sight and to know that the sight is secure when the dealer said it is when asking for your credit card ,look to SEE if the new sight changed to (https) the "S" showing after the http means and is a secure sight. Hope this may help some one worrying about a secure sight. A bogus sight will not have the "S".

      Thats good advice Roy.

Just to add a little more info...

In the bottom right hand corner of your browser, in Internet Explorer you should see an image of yellow lock (the image may be a little different in other browsers), which means it is a secure site. You can then double click on the lock and view/verify the security certificate. A lot of vendors use Verisign.

This is especially important due to what is called "pharming". Just to give a quick description of pharming, Pharming is when you are redirected to a site (without your knowledge) to a site that looks exactly like the legitimate site you are expecting to see. When you enter in your personal info like CC number, you are submitting it directly to the pharmer(identity thief).

Google for it if you want or care to have more info.
