67 Big Block Front Spring Dimensions

I ordered a pair of front springs from a reputable resto company for my 67 big block with standard suspension, no a/c. The springs they sent me sure look like small block springs. They have 12 coils and the free standing height is 17 3/8". I haven't been able to find the correct dimensions for these springs anywhere. All I know is that these are much taller than F41 springs and even taller than small block springs. Can anyone tell me where to find this information? I couldn't find anything in the archives. Unless someone comes up with something sooner, I'll try to check for you when I get home this evening, but I'm not sure that I have any references for this information. I might, though.

In any event, from sheer recollection, I believe that the F-41 front coil springs do have a shorter free-length than the non-F-41 big block springs. However, the coil material is of a larger diameter.

When I was verifying if my 66 was an original big block I found that in the back of Noland Adams 63-67 Restoration book under (I believe) reference info, there is information on the springs. If memory serves the F41 big block springs had 7 coils and the wire diameter was larger than the small block springs which had 12 coils. The height was also different. I still have the original big block springs with the old, faded dark green tag with black letters that I can barely read but can't remember what was on it. If you have the book you might want to check it out.

The original GM part number for these springs was GM #3888250. They have been discontinued for quite some time. More later, if I come up with anything else.

But, according to notations I made one time while I was researching for my '63, I measured my old used known-to-be-original 7-coil spring free height at 15.25 and 0.525 diameter/thickness coil rod (height doesn't jive with chart, and rod thickness seems smaller than replacements); a new heavy-duty 7-coil 340519 coil had 12.8 free height and 0.68 thick rod; a used spring, supposedly an original from a '66 or '67 big block Corvette, measured 16.6 high, 12 coils, 0.60 rod thickness (probably a small block spring?).

So, go figure!?!

I"v been looking all over from corvette suppliers to barnes&noble for a copy of Noland Adams restoration & tech guide vol II, 63-67. They all say that the book is out of print and can"t be ordered. I"v even looked in used book stores on the outside chance that someone would have parted with a copy. No luck as of yet. Any suggestions on where I might find a copy??
