I need a correct fuel injection unit for my big brake 60. I know it should have a 7017320 unit, but should I look for serial numbers or date codes? The judging manual says no corelation, but I think there should be a range? I recieved a 58 unit with the car and I know that must go. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: You KNOW you need a7320? VIN?
I am in contact with John D., but he has no unit for me at this time. I will have him rebuild it when I find a unit. It's just that the serial numbers confuse me and I guess everyone else? maybe someone has a 60 unit that would trade for a 58, probally dreaming, but I'll keep looking. Thanks for the responses.- Top

Re: You KNOW you need a7320? VIN?
Bill, there is a correlation between FI unit serial number and the build date of the car, and it is more significant than early car--early unit, late car, late unit.
The first 7320 unit was serial number 1001. There were 759 hi-horse fuelies in 60, and 10,200 cars. That's roughly 1 in 15 being a fuelie. Take your VIN, divide by 15, and add to 1001, and that will give you a range to look for.
(e.g. your VIN is 7560, divided by 15 is 504, added to 1001 is 1540.) I'd look for a unit (or have a tag made) that is between 1500 and 1600 for that car.
Hope this helps.
