Urethane Sealant around Windshield? - 1963

My painter is stripping my body down now.

He's removing all of the windows and noticed that the winshield has a urethane sealant around the outside.

When it comes time to place the winshield back in to the car, what is this stuff? Where can we get it?

    Thanks for any help.

1963 vettes used moulded rubber weatherstrips/gaskets for front windshield and the two rear glasses on coupes. they are readily available from the vette dealers. mike

The urethane was probably used to "cure" a leaking windshield. As Mikie says, used a windshield weatherstrip. You can use 3M strip caulk under the molding as insurance against leakage. Just be careful and not use too much as it will interfere with the fit of the molding
