1965 Gas Door Backing Plate... Dimple or Not???

Did late production 1965 Corvette gas doors have the small dimple in the center of the backing plate or was this a 1966 characteristic only??? The '65 judging manual says nothing about it but it is mentioned in the '66 judging manual.

My original, March production '65, has a dimple that measure approx. 3/8 inch diameter in the center of the backing plate. The shape of the dimple resembles what you would expect to get if you hit it with a ball peen hammer.

Thaks, guys. Great information to use on my 65 gas door that I was trying to determine if it's an original or not.

Hi James, the answer is yes to the '65.
My original mid-'64 also has that dimple, does your '64 have it?
I don't recall or have a '63 here to look at, could be all Mid-years.
I'm sure someone else will chime in.
