what product(s) are best to use on SMC fiberglass

Ok I have a few projects I need to do on a very special low mile 90 Corvette.

With its last owner the car was headed for a dragracing future then the owner stoped work for whatever reason, Now I have some serious fiberglass issues that need to be fixed due to the previous owners stupidity.

Anyhow I have been looking and talking to alot of people and have recived mixed results on a few products the following have been recomneded and 2 of them I was going to try but I want to be sure they are good to go
Duramix, 3M, Fusor, Evercoat, or recently the new Norton stuff

Anyway I need any advice on what kind of epoxy or resins that I need to use on the SMC for repairs I also need to know what to use for bonding the body panels together just incase I need to.

I have the following to fix.

I have 2 hoods that have minimal damage that needs attention both are smaller cracks that need to be filled in and leveled before paint, The floor boards have 2 large cracks where the floor meets the trany tunnel about a foot long,
I have a new floor board in case I decide to replace this one If I cant fix it

I also have 2 large holes in the rear storage compartments due to the halfshafts being disconected when the car was moved around so they punched holes into the compartments

    any help is appreciated

    thanks
    johnny

Re: what product(s) are best to use on SMC fibergl

I used norton stuctural adhesive on my 70 to bond the metal header bar to the nose glass and also the inner wells. Worked great. The product cartridge comes in a variety of work time and is reasonably priced. Very happy with the results. http://www.nortonautomotive.com/Data...00000000001795

With that said, the gun to apply and mix the dual cartridge is around $70.00. (ouch!)

Tried the 3M stuff supplied by most venders. Wouldn't use it again if I got it for free

Fusor has great products too......very similar and strong, no issues with SMC to glass or steel etc. I have the gun from them......probably very similar.....you can get it for $49 from autobodystore.com (see below).... Craig

Lord Fusor is GM approved for SMC repairs; For all I know, the others may be "approved" by GM as well. My buddy asked the bodyshop manager at a local Chevy dealer what he would use to make a minor repair to his C6, and he responded "Fusor".

If you go to Lord Fusor's website, there are repair procedures that tell you exactly which of their products you will need for cosmetic (deep scratches or gouges) or structural (panel cracked through) repairs. The repair adhesive, which is also used as a body filler, comes in caulking tube size (300ml) or smaller 50 ml size. For a lot of small repairs, the 50ml serving will be handy...once the stuff is opened, you can expect it to begin deterioating.

Try AutoBodyDepot.com...they appear to have almost all the Fusor products.
