    C1 Overheating

I had to remove the right side head for machine work on the exhaust ports.
I installed it and reset the valves cold on both sides and used 1/4 turn preload Adjustment. The engine runs good.
I had no over heating problems before I removed the head.
I have already changed the thermostat using 180 degrees.

Is it possible to put the head gasket on wrong and block water ports?
Could the valves be too loose or too tight and holding hot gases and causing the problem as it heats up very quickly.
Could old gasket particles be causing a blockage, if so where would the blockage most likely be?
    Please give me some ideas.

    Thanks in advance, Jimmy

The last time I drained my 60, I had a similar problem. The answer for me was to run the overflow hose into a gallon jug of 50/50 antifreeze mix. I ran the engine until it hit about mid range on the temp guage and then shut it down and let it cool. I did this three or four times and got an additional two or three (its been awhile) quarts of coolant into the system. Since then, no problems. Once it stops taking coolant, heat it up one more time and remove the hose from the jug with the engine warm. These systems always have some air in the radiator.

You might also verify you have the timing correct.
