Do I understand correctly that the "cast date" on a BB67 can be UP TO 6 mo.prior to "motor build date"?? Seems like a long time. Don

most original engine cases are dated a week or two prior to machine assembly date. NCRS decided years ago to allow a 6 month window.mike

NO!

NCRS policy is to allow dated engine components to fall in a window of 0-6 month prior to the car's actual build date (not the date the engine was built). So, you calculate the birth date of your car, based on its VIN, and that sets your 0-6 month window...
