Ok I know that on normal cars that you can have a half year production but this is titled as a 1969 all numbers matching but when I order parts such as the rear marker lights they are the wrong ones. I pulled my old one and ran the number " 3973654 red " comes back 70 -73 Is it possible to have a 70,s prototype? Does this make it more valuable and has anyone eles come accross this. The vin number on the winsheild post matches the title and when I run the vin accross different web sites in comes back with nothing un usual.
69 title / 70 body

what is the VIN number?
While it certainly may be possible, it's more likely that somewhere in the past 35 years, a prior owner who wasn't NCRS inclined bought whatever parts would fit and function. I would wonder what the production date was. Especially if it's early in the model year, I would doubt it's a factory item.

Re: what is the VIN number?
It was and is not unusual for people to buy salvage parts to do repairs that were either not insured or under insured. You could have a situation where the car was hit in the rear and a rear clip off a 70 was used to replace damaged parts. Sometimes the entire body was changed.
What do the wheel wells look like? 70's had flares 69's did not.
What do the vents behind the front wheels look like? 70 had eggcrate 69 had slats.
You need to look at all the identifying parts on the body. Trim tag- check build date and other codes to try to determine what you have.- Top
