    1957 Trunk Lock

    I would very much appreciate any tips on how to install the trunk lock retainer considering the very limited amount of space available.

    While I have installed a number of these in the past, I do remember it took a hell of a long time and plain blind luck.

    Any feed back is welcome.

    Thanks

    Hi Ed -

    This "simple" item took a lot of trail and error. I wound up slightly bending the retaining clip and lubricating it's edges so it would slide into place more easily. As I recall, I then used long needle-nose pliers to get the clip in the start position, and then tapped it home with a 3/8" extension about 6" long. That was several years ago and the lock has been solid and tight ever since.

    Good luck,
    Cal

      Ed,
      Your first impression was correct. It's just a plain pain!

        Tom..what is more difficult?

        * installing the trunk Lock
        * Installing a 53-55 convertible top
        * installing the clutch helper spring

        These are enough to make one quit!

        Who engineered these things?

            replacing plexiglass in a c-1 hardtop has to rank right up there with #1 PITA. mikie
