    More Insane ebay bidding!

ebay item number 4599145870 which is an original bag and seat shims went for $440.00. It's getting nutts out there again! How many points can this be worth? They make repo bags and shims that I would think you would get most of the credit for!

I think you lose one point for the repro. To my eye the only discerning difference in the repro set is the size of the bag.

Rare parts will always bring big money to the person that wants them. Has far as the shims go that was a buy at the 440.00

              Remember...

when items bid to nosebleed levels on eBay it takes at least TWO serious bidders to pump the price skyward!

Jack is right. If you check the bids on some of these high selling items after the auction ends, you'll usually find most of the bidders stopped at some reasonable price, and the other two took it to a new level all by themselves.

I must assume your post is tongue-in-cheek, sarcasm or something related there to. Such bidding is lunacy.

For the most part, yes; but, not always. It depends what the "starting" or "reserve" price is for an item. If either of those prices is very high, then it takes only one bidder willing to pay the price.

Now that I have desided to go the Barrett Jackson Auction route for my Original Z06 I will be using the E Bay route for all of my spare parts. Things like NOS Brake shoes and Drums and a Master Cylinder rebuilding kit I would hope command a preimum price. I spent good money on acquiring these parts nearly 30 years ago, ($38.95 for a set of Z06 brake shoes, lol). I am putting together a list of these parts and so far it has taken up 5 hand written pages and I still have many more shelves to inventory.

Should not I be compensated for the investment and time spent in tracking down these items?

Yes after nearly 43 years I have decided to sell. It really took a great deal of thought to come to this. I love to drive and with the value of the old cars becoming so high I was getting afraid to drive on the street. The last trip I took was two years ago on a 175 mile Sunday drive. I have only driven the car about 10 miles each weekend in my local gated community.

I hope to purchase a new Z06 soon, so that is why I am selling all of my parts. I still have the 1984 to restore that I also bought new.
