Relays: 1978 PW, power locks, rear defrost

On a 78 what Relays are these?

First relay I have is located to the left of the steering column with 4 terminals. Inside the relay there is a small board with diodes like a computer board. I can make out a number on it of 3571665 with ID letters for the 4 terminal: i.e. L, P, B, G.

The next relay is located in the console. It has a molded terminal plug that plugs into this relay. It is not the window relay. It mounts a little further back towards the back of the car from the window relay on the drivers side. I cannot find any numbers on this relay.

PS the above 7 digit part number does not show up in my 1982 edition of P&A 30 price book.

    Geoffrey------

The rear defogger relay is inserted into a connector which comes out of the instrument panel wiring harness in the GENERAL vacinity that you mentioned (left of the steering column). It is not retained by anything other than the connector. There are 4 terminals on it that are in a row. This relay is GM #527362. It is discontinued and I can't find any supercessive part number, although there may be one. I can find no record, at all, of GM #3571665. As far as I can tell, that number was never assigned. At least, it was never assigned to any finished part which was used in PRODUCTION or available in SERVICE. I think that it would be a Cadillac part number, if it had been assigned, although that does not mean that it couldn't have been used in a Chevrolet (although in this case, it was not). I have to assume that although it's a "look-alike GM part number", it's actually a part number relative to its manufacturer.

The power window relay was attached to the lower left, forward side of the console vertical reinforcement, just forward of the shifter lever. In PRODUCTION, it was GM #4540898 but, as far as I can tell, that number was never available in SERVICE. For SERVICE, I believe that it was known as GM #7729602. That part is also discontinued and I cannot find any supercessive number for it, although there may be one.

I don't think that there is a power door lock relay used. However, there is an anti-theft relay which is more-or-less part of the door lock circuit. This relay is attached to the upper left, rear side of the aformentioned console vertical reinforcement. It is GM #356284 and it's still available from GM.

Thank you Mr. Lucia. Your Hired

This entitles you to a corner office. It also includes a reserved parking space. You know the kind. It doesn't require you to wade through the masses to get to your office, which also is close to the .... house.

      Thanks again Joe.

PS A belated Merry Christmas and an even better New Year to you and yours. Debbie got me a new set of knee pads, a back brace belt, a 5 gallon pail organizer and special ceramic tile cutter. Apparently she has my calender well planned. And ironically I gave her a dog calender (and frogskins).
