    69 Big Block Intake Gaskets

big block intake gaskets chuck and pat gongloff was planning to replace the intake manifold gaskets on the ordered repro gaskets from paragon they're black and stamped clevite s n payen also they do not follow the intake contour as the small block gaskets do they are identical to the gaskets on the car now except mine are not stamped as above are these correct are the ones on the car now correct are they worth changing also are the heads painted engine orange or silver where the gaskets mount i've seen only engine orange regardless of whether the intake is cast iron or aluminum but some tell me silver is correct are the gaskets painted too or do they remain black if the intake was on the car when the engine was painted it was likely masked off so that tells me the gaskets are painted too i'm basically a small block guy these big blocks are all new to me any thoughts

re big block intake gaskets jerry i currently own a hp a c car and owned one when new i believe your assumption is correct the intake was on when painted and was simply masked off this is what the judging manual says also gaskets receive orange with some overspray in the area of the intake even the factory gaskets did not follow the intake contour there was no silver paint was used in the engine compartment to the best of my knowledge and certianly not in this area on this particular engine if your vette is air conditioned i would enjoy hearing from you and good luck in your project regards jerry

re big block intake gaskets chuck and pat gongloff thanks jerry i think everything is engine orange in that area too including the gaskets our does not have air conditioning it's a automatic roadster it has ps and pb also has factory side exhausts am fm stereo alarm and hardtop it's monaco orange with a black leather interior i think that i am going to leave the current gaskets and just repaint and detail the area instead of pulling the intake distributor etc i've got a lot of projects to do on the car over the winter and leaving the intake on will make my life a bit easier
