this may have been posted before but if you have a small diameter crank pin crank,2.000,you can use later model 350 chevy connecting rods with the 2.100 crank pin size by using a spacer rod bearing from King, part # CR867HP. this way you will not need to buy aftermarket rods for more durability as 350 chevy PM rods are good for over 500 HP and a set of 8 cost less than $250

Re: connecting rods for 2.000 crank pins
Why not just use a good set of small journal 327 rods?????????
I have a stroked SB400 in a boat with a set of 327 small journal rods and it has been a great engine. It was stroked by offset grinding the 400 rod journals (2.1) down to the size of a small journal crank and using the small journal 327 rods. Along with a .030 bore gives about 420ci. In the summer time we take this boat to the lake and beat the crap out of the engine and it hasn't come apart yet!- Top

Re: connecting rods for 2.000 crank pins
I just bought a set of SCAT small journal rods for my 327. They are made of 4340 steel and use ARP cap screws. Balanced within 1 gram and cost less than $250. Very nice rod and certainly a lot stronger than the 327 rods.

Yes. Clem's reference was for those who don't want to spend the big $$$ on aftermarket rods like the ones you purchased. A new set of PM rods from GM is quite a bit less than the SCAT rods.
I don't think you ever hve to worry about your rods breaking now.

Re: connecting rods for 2.000 crank pins
question re rod weight, Saw a spec for rod weight in clymers corvette book at 19.02oz, if my calc is correct and 642 is in grams that would equal 22.62oz. Is that difference approx 3.6 oz meaningful for a street engine? Would the crank need to be rebalanced with the extra 3.6oz?- Top

Re: connecting rods for 2.000 crank pins
These rods are heavier than stock. You can really see it just by comparing the two side by side. All of the extra weight is on the big end. As I am balancing my engine anyway, I don't think it will be a problem.- Top
