    C2_ Muncie_Shift mount stripped threads

One of the 3 threaded holes for bolting on the shifter bracket has stripped threads. The bolts are 3/8" coarse. Would it be better to use a tap to cut 7/16" threads or drill out and use a 3/8" helicoil?

Assuming that you're talking about the drilled and tapped holes in the transmission extension housing, I'd definitely recommend using a 3/8" Heli-Coil. The bosses don't really have enough material to support a 7/16" tapping. While you do have to drill the boss oversize to install the Heli-Coil, I believe that the oversize is a little smaller than it would need to be for a 7/16-14 bolt.

I have put Heli-coils in several of these with great success, some being race cars where they were abused greatly and still stood up.
