    C3 underbody insulation

i've installed the tunnel insulation and air dam in my march 1969 convertible. the area forward of this, over the bell housing, has more insulation retainers but i can't find anything in the assembly manual or my catalogs to put there. the assembly manual does show something that looks like a pad that was canceled in april 1969, but nothing to replace it. anybody know about this?
    thanks,
    mac

There should be white plastic splash shields underneath the toe pan area. These have a foil covered insulation between them and the floor. It is about 3x2 feet.I got mine from Eckler's but all the other supply houses should have it as well. If you put that in along with a heat barrier under the carpet it will make a big difference in the temp. inside the car.Ecklers part# a8458l and a8458r will do it for you. Tom P.s. my car was built Feb. 7th 69 and they are the white plastic as mentioned.yours should be the same I do believe. Some were grey metal but I think they were earlier cars.

      Marc:
This insulation was added as a dealer installed correction for heat in the cabin in mid '68. Look in the archives for postings on this. If you have the retainers mounted to the underbody in places other than in the transmission tunnel, your '69 came from the factory with the foil wrapped insulation. My '69 (Oct '68) has them. I bought replacements from Paragon. The plastic pieces were mounted on the floor pan "riser" and attached to metal heat shields that covered the insulation. The A.I.M. details the plastic shields and the metal heat shields but does not show the insulation anywhere (at least I could never find it).
