Re: 78 silver anniversery
Jim-----
ALL 1978 Silver Anniversary Edition Corvettes were painted withe the same "two-tone" silver color scheme. That's mostly what made them "silver anniversary models".
There was no VIN-coded designation for the silver anniversary models, as there was for 1978 Pace Cars. So, the only way to tell if a car is an ORIGINAL silver anniversary model is to have some sort of original documentation. There were many "silver anniversary" Covettes created after they left St. Louis. There were also Pace Cars created, too, but they are much easier to authenticate due to the VIN difference. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 78 silver anniversery - Hey Jim
why do you keep deleting your messages?
There were 15,283 Silver Anniversary cars made, which was a $399 option. I think only the paint was in that option. Anyway, there are a lot of them.
Often you see people advertising a "Silver Anniversary" Corvette that is blue, brown, black or some other color. That is because they all carry the 25th Anniversary emblems on the car.
So technically, I guess, you can say they are all "25th Anniversary" cars, but only 15,283 are "Silver Anniversary" cars as that was the name of the option.- Top
