Most overused phrase in classic car hobby

"If the car is not sold now, it'll be going to Barrett-Jackson"

By my calculation there should be about 35,000 cars at Barrett this year.

    I thought it was "Restored".

And of course, all variations - "100% restored", "90% restored", "99% restored", "restored to NCRS standards", "80% restored", and so on.

I also thought the "These cars sell for high dollars at Barrett Jackson" and "When finished, this car can bring high dollars at Barrett Jackson" were more common than the "going to Barrett Jackson".

I would have to say "restored" is often used instead of them saying
"we purchased a case or eastwoods paint and repainted every thing including the rust and grease"

Also "Rare" is often over used

"Numbers Matching" wins hands down; it's applied everywhere by people who haven't a clue as to its origin or meaning.

All the above is true. What about "rare".

I like the "numbers matching" line and when you go to look at the car the only numbers that match are the front and rear licenses plates!!!!!!!!

I know a guy locally with a base small block '67 driver who is convinced his car is worth $100k plus after watching the BJ auction on the Speed Channel. BJ has definely warped some folk's thinking regarding Corvette values.
