    66 coupe headliner

I recently purchased a new headliner for my 66 coupe from LIC. I was disappointed in that the new liner, while approximately the same shape as the original was not molded in the same fashion, i.e. the depressions at the front of the liner for the visors were not present in the replacement liner. Was my original not original, or is the LIC replacement simply a poor replacement. Are there better sources for something close to original?

only the 67 coupe headliner had molded-in depressions for the sunvisors. your 66 probably had a 67 repo. mike

I also have a 66 Coupe. I did not have the visor indents on my original. I replaced mine with a piece from Al Knoch. It also did not have the visor indents. Caution - Watch out for the small clips that hold the above door molding. They are very fragile and tempormental. They are available from LIC and expensive. Don't ask me how I know.

With regard to the clips, they won't go through the headliner backing, which is a plastic type material, at least the Al Knoch repo was. I had to cut away the area where they went through. The original headliner backing was a softer, cardboard-like material that the clips could be pushed through. If the clips aren't lined up just right they break very easily, as previously posted. Have a couple extra when you install the headliner.
