    Electronic Driveline

I have appointed several folks to be involved in again reviewing the Driveline to be published electronically or an instant buy/sell version similar to e-bay. This is a long-range project where many issues are required to be addressed. I expect a report from this team at our March and August board meetings. If you have comments please contact Mark Lincoln, Region I Representative or Arland Dower, Region VIII Representative.

        Re: Electronic Driveline

        Gilbert--
Thanks for the encouraging message. As the "CEO" of a church of 7300 people, I know that everyone has their own desire as to what should be done and how it should be done, and no one has a full understanding of all of the implications and ramifications. I also know that leadership is listening to the constituents and sifting through those ideas to determine which are best and most appropriate for the majority of the members. Thanks for your consideration--many of us would just as soon have the NCRS invest our dollars in something other than the Driveline, because we are not the select few who have the earliest postal delivery. In my 13 years in Wisconsin, I haven't been able to buy a single part that I needed out of the Driveline--every one was already sold.
Thanks for listening--we'll eagerly await the feedback that you're able to share with us.

          Re: Electronic Driveline (Amen)

We are always willing to provide ideas or willing to help the committee out with specing and implementing such an addition to the NCRS website.

          greetings,
          Rob.

            The Electronic Driveline is feasible.....

thanks to your intervention. However, I respectfully submit that the majority of the members in favor of this new "long-range project" would like to see it implemented while we are still young. I don't see any compelling reason why we can't have at least a "trial" electronic Driveline by the end of this year and tweak it as we go along.

I will add that several years ago, many members requested that this Board have a Dealer/Zone listing installed, so we could see where our Corvette's originated. At least a dozen members posted here saying it couldn't be done, too complicated, who is going to run it?....just basically a filibuster maneuver.

Thanks to John Waggoner, he was advised of a Chevelle web Site which had exactly what we were looking for. He contacted them and they agreed to share all their zone/ dealer information with us. It took ONE month and John had the Dealer/Zone directory up and running here, FWIW. Patrick Tighe #33001

GTO people got all zone info posted within a few months on ultimateGTO.com Thats not that complicated to get running. We are now building a database of engine sequence numbers to verify correct engine block stamps.

Thank you, Gilbert. An electronic Driveline would be a WELCOME addition. Chuck

                  Re: Electronic Driveline

This sounds like it could be a Ca$h Cow if advertising is involved. Certain sections of it would need to be private with some public. The Information Wanted section if public would receive much more exposure than it currently does.

Sounds like a great idea. You cannot beat the Internet for communication. It is going to happen only a matter of when.

                      Gilbert,

Thank you for listening. Certainly, as Rev. Mike said in his message, there will be many ideas from many people. After all, this is America and that's our way of feeling important. Through the TDB, I contacted Dick Whittington, our regional representative, who responded via email that we should ask our chapter president to include the request for an electonic Driveline in his Chapter Report to the BoD. Immediately, I did that via email. (Aren't computers wonderful?)

The only change from our existing Driveline format suggested here, is that it be electronic instead of in a mailed printed copy. Admittedly, there would be many other resulting advantages and problems demanding solutions. But thanks for the effort on your part.

                      Best regards,
