C2 Carpet and Top Install Sequence

Since I will be replacing both my carpet and convertible top, is there a preference on which should be done first? I see pros and cons with both ways, but wanted to get the opinion of someone who has done it. Just want to avoid any unnecessary pitfalls.

As always, thanks for the advice.

Carpet first, top second. This way, you'll have more room to work. The top replacement process should be accomplished off of the car, so, the installation really boils down to 4 bolts, and some last minute adjustments.

C2 Carpet and Top Install Sequence???

      Joe,
Maybe I am missing something. You suggest removing the convertible top frame from the car, installing the new top on he frame then reinstall the complete assembly with some minor adjustments? Can't say that I have ever seen that done. Did I misinterpret your response to the original query?
      Best regards,
      Charlie

        Charlie:

Yes, I can see how it can be misinterpreted. What I should have said, was that the top frame rebuild should take place off of the car, and installation is 4 bolts and some minor adjustments. The pads and all of the vinyl for the ragtop is done with the frame-on, and is done from the sides of the car, most of it from the outside. Thanks for the clarification prompt.

Thanks, Joe. Makes sense. I'd much rather have the extra room to put in the carpet while the top is off.
