You seem to be guite knowledgable on availability of GM parts so I'd like to ask you if you can tell me if the amp gauge (nos) is still available from the general, and if it would be an exact replacement for the original?

No apology necessary. To the best of my knowledge your gauge is no longer available from GM, I'm certain Joe will have the P/N for you or possibly a service replacement.

Mid-America

The new Mid-America catalog states they now have them available in reproduction with the correct green characters. Have 68-71, Ammeter is $99.95.

The Last Detail

Hi.

I got a reproduction one from The Last Detail almost a year ago for my 71, with the correct greenish characters. It was less than the above MidAmerica price.

The original ammeter gauge used for 68-71 Corvettes was GM #6473517. It has been discontinued for quite some time. The 72-74 gauge, GM #6473859, can be used as a replacement, but it has white characters instead of the faint greenish charcaters used in the former gauge. Also, as far as I know, it is discontinued also.

EC Products of Atascadero, CA currently reproduces all of the 68-71 Corvette gauges. I believe that they are currently selling them for about $70 each. They advertise in Chevy/Corvette Trader and other magazines.
