I need some date code information on my 73's brake system.
I need to know if the master cylinder and calipers are the original and need to be rebuilt or if at some time they were replaced and I can just replace them now.
If you can find a four digit numeric code on your calipers, this could help determine if they're original. Front brakes should have the number 3***, rear brakes should have ***3, the 3 designating the year 1973 and the *** being the day of the year. Let us know what you find.
For the master cylinder, you should have casting number 5480346 or 5455509. Either casting number should have two bleeder screws
The master cylinder check out to be correct. I'll pull the wheels this weekend to check the calipers. Do you recomend anyone to re-sleeve(sp) these parts.?
