    More 72 LT1 ?'s - Sorry

    According to the JG all LT1's had a bracket between the carb and fuel inlet tube. Mine is missing which makes sense as the original carb was in a box and a replacement 780 was on the engine. I've checked all the obvious vendor catalogs and have not seen this bracket. Suggestions on where to obtain one? Obviously a swap meet or Carlisle but I'm looking to complete this sooner than later. This is really all I am down to finding while doing the bodywork and paint.

    Same goes for the Waterpump/A.I.R. Pulley. I do not see them available anywhere. I have a complete A.I.R. system (ala Bill Hodel) and need the pulley.

    Coil (B-R 270), Capacitor, and Starter (1108418) Ditto.

    Does anyone make a decent repro rocker panel? One is already a replacement (no tab) in decent but not show condition and the other is an original but driver quality.

    Now for a real dumb question. I see one horn mounted between the headlights right in front of the hood/center. The horn always sounded terrible like one horn was all that was there. That may be the case because I can't find the second one. I went through the AIM but couldn't find it in there either. Only the front mounted one. Where does/did it mount and where to get?

    Thanks!

    Re: More 72 LT1 ?'s - Sorry

    Joe------

    1) The 70-72 LT-1 fuel line bracket is available in reproduction. About 20 bucks from Paragon or any of their dealers like Dr. Rebuild, etc;

    2) The original AIR pump DRIVE pulley, GM #3991425, is not, as far as I know, reproduced. A 100% functional, if not absolutely correctly configured replacement, was, until recently, available from GM under GM #14023158. It is no longer, though. Both of these pullies are unique to Corvettes and a few MD and HD truck applications. So, they are not "everywhere to be found";

    3) No one currently makes a rocker panel reproduction that it identical to the PRODUCTION rocker panel;

    4) 72 Corvettes were originally equipped with a single horn. You could add a second horn, but it would not be original. The choice is yours, though.

      U da man Joe, thanks.

      I went through Paragon's and the Doc's catalog tonight. Maybe too starry eyed but did not find the carb bracket. Will check again after a lttle snooze.

      They do list the pulley but it says to Call so wll try there for the pulley.

      The rockers are another story.

      As always, thanks

        Joe-----

        Most likely, if they have the pulley, at all, it will be the 14023158. Now that it's been discontinued, that will likely increase significantly in price.

          Addendum--Photo

          Attached is a photo of an NOS example of each pulley I mentioned. There is a very subtle difference between them. However, the part number is stamped in a location where it can be easily seen.

              Joe, I have what I thought was an original smog pump pulley: it has the 3991425 followed by BX. What's up with the BX? Thanks, G.

                George-----

                "BX" is the "broadcast code" for the 3991425 pulley. Most GM pullies were coded with a 2 or 3 alpha character code. It was easier for assembly workers to ID a part from a 2 or 3 letter code than a 7 or 8 digit number. The 3991425 pulley was first used for the 1971 model year and for quite a few years thereafter (for AIR-equipped cars).

                    Joe -

                    Paragon has it - their #2053K, includes the pinch screw, $20.00.

                      Thanks John. I looked through the entire catalog (v30/2005) and especially pages 43-45 with carb/fuel items. Still couldn't find it.

                        Lower left corner of page 44 - there's a photo of it too.
