Shriners C2 Corvettes

Hello,
Does anyone have info on the 1963 'vert Shriners cars?
Were they all White with the same options? Any idea of the serial numbers or sequence?
I saw an ad on ebay for a 1963 issue of Corvette News Vol 6 #5 with an article about these cars and don't recall having heard about them before.

Yes I do as we sold them and my Dad was a member and the selling dealer. The cars were silver with red interiors mostly base engine at trans. I have that Corvette News and a bunch of photos of the cars. I don't have the inventory book handy so can't give you serial numbers at this time. I can get it for you if need be. From the pictures shown in that C. News issue I count 12 silver/red 63 converts.
I would indeed be interested in knowing the serial number sequence if it is not too much of a problem for you.
While I was well aware of the '67 Shriners cars, I did not realize that the Omaha Shriners bought a group of cars also in '63. Was this a yearly upgrade for them?
I am in the process of recording as many cars from 1963 production as possible and this would be a great addition to my research list!! From a quick glance at my 1963 list of cars, I do not detect a grouping of silver/red automatic converts that are close in serial number sequence.

Hi Syd,

Apparently that Shriners group (Omaha) ordered identical new Corvettes each year for a number of years, I believe, beginning with models even before the 1963 Stingray. Peter Licastro's book "Birthplace of Legends" has a number of photos of the Shriners taking delivery of various models at the St.Louis plant and posing for publicity near the arch in St. Louis.

I have a fair-sized library on Corvettes and I seem to recall seeing other photos elsewhere of the Shriners' cars.

It will take me a bit to dig out the info on the serial numbers. The Shriners got new Corvettes every year from 1957 until 1981 and I have some info for all years. GL Anderson

Thanks GL! That is very kind of you. There is no rush.
Although I am probably wrong, from looking at my '63 list I think that the Shriner cars were in the 8-9,000 serial range for 1963 (just a guess).
Do your records also show the options?
It must have been an exciting time each year for the Shriner members receiving delivery of their new matching cars and also for your dad and the dealership!
