For some reason my horn will sound off with short blasts while driving. Usually when I turn the steering wheel slightly. Otherwise its fine when depressing button at all 4 points. Any Ideas? Thanks, Don

The horn button works on a ground principle. Evidently you have the wiring from the horn button intermittently grounding somewhere in the steering column, possibly in the slip ring assy under the steering wheel, which causes the horn to blow.- Top

Don,
It has been 8 years ago but as I recall it can be accessed by just removing the steering wheel or actually removing the hub but there is a thin vinyl disc (a hole in the middle that the column passes through) that acts as an insulator and it can wear thin enough that with the right pressure and position of the steering the horn will ground. I removed mine and held it up to a light and found the thin area. I put a piece of electrical tape over the area and no problem since.

I had the same problem with my 61. A wire came loose on the turn signal mechanism, so when I turned, it honked. I fixed the loose wire, and the ground problem got fixed. It was an easy fix.
