    Chassis no

    Hello,

Why is it that the chassis no is stamped twice next to each other on the chassis of my 1954 C1. Is this the same for all C1?

    thanks in advance

    Re: Chassis no

My '56 is stamped twice as well. One directly below the driver seat on the outer edge of the frame rail. The other is about 12-14 inches rearward of the front one. It could be as simple as making sure that one of them was readable. Two shots is better than one.

Allright, two is better than one but why do they stamp twice a poor quality?? Or is it just a thing from the early engeneering period?

        Pieter -

That's the way it was 52 years ago; the number wasn't visible, and nobody ever expected anyone to remove the body and look at it anyway.
