    GASKET FOR OILBYPASS VALVE

I am rebuilding a 350HP 327 out of my 65 coupe and can't come up with a gasket to go between the oil bypass valve and the block. Does GM still make it and if so does anyone have a part # and if the3y don't any suggestions where to get one. Thanks in advance. Sheldon

Long Island and Paragon (with picture) have them in their catalog.

i have never seen a gasket on any new chevy engine with a spin on filter. all the engines i build i even remove the bypass disk and spring, then tap the hole with a 1/4 NTP tap and then install a pipe plug. this prevents any unfiltered oil on cold startup from bypassing the filter through the bypass valve. if when you start you car and the oil pressure gage jumps up to full pressure the oil is bypassing the filter. with a bypassed plugged the oil pressure comes up slowly. just sand the back of the adapter flat on a piece of sandpaper and a flat plate.
