    62 Rear Shocks

Ok I'm getting old and senile, but it seems to me there used to be an easy way to get the top nut off or maybe I'm just hoping this is an easy way. Any neat little tricks would be greatly appreciated.

You can remove the tank cover if you don't like busting your knuckles from underneath.

      Wayne,
I'm not sure I follow your post. On a 62, what help is removing the gas tank cover to take off the shocks? There are no access holes unless you create them yourself.

Put your 9/16 wrench on the the nut and turn the top shock housing. Will make quick work of it. Terry

Been a while. Guess I was thinking of earlier model C1.

Turn it with what? There ain't a lot of room up there to do that. I can't even get a rachet wrench to work. And there are no access holes from above.

Put a box end on the nut, then grab the actual top portion of the shock body and turn it. The wrench doesn't move at all, it holds the nut, while the top body, with the integral shaft, turns the shaft inside the nut.
