I'd look REAL hard at that. I wonder if some casting flash makes that 9 appear like an 8.

Can you post a photo?

I will check and get back to you. The car is a base engine auto and had been sitting fo 15 years. I pulled the engine and all is original.

Well when I look at the cast number it looks like an 8, two other people also thoght so. I steelwooled it and flashed a light on it and while oit still looks like an 8 at a certain angle I can see it is a "9" that solves the mistery thank goodness for my 69.
