    carb seeps gas-67 327/350

Has anyone had a problem with the carb. seeping gas after the engine has been turned off and the motor starts coolong down? The carb has new gaskets and the fuel bowl screws are tight. It doesn't start leeking right away, and wiping around the bottom of the carb doesn't show anything that I can find.

    John-----

Lots of people have had that problem with Holley carbs. Usually, it's due to a warped metering body, fuel bowl, or air horn assembly.

        Where is it seeping gas?

        John,

Is it seeping into the air horn or onto the intake manifold. If it is leaking onto the intake manifold, is it on the primary or secondary side, or in what location.

I assume it's a 3810. I've just been through a complete 3810 restoration as a 37 year owner of a 67 SB. Maybe it's not as serious as you think. Let us know.

          Jerry,
It seeps onto the manifold and predominantly on the right side, although if does leek a little on the left side. It is the original carb. although it does have a newly faced throttle plate.

Check the butter fly shafts for wear. I've seen them leak and it is difficult to see.

              John,

Doubt that it is from the throttle shafts for the type of leak you have. Must be coming from the fuel bowls and the mating surfaces between the air horn, metering body (if toward the front) and the fuel bowls, as Joe indicated.

You might try a set of those blue resilient fuel bowl gaskets, if you haven't already. They are a lot more forgiving for warpage.
